2D1N BAKO NATIONAL PARK

Stay overnight at Bako National Park for a more in-depth experience. At a mere twenty-seven square kilometers, it may be one of Sarawak’s smallest parks, but there is a lot to see in this microcosm of Borneo’s biodiversity.

Accommodation

Accommodation at Bako National Park is basic and consists of chalets and lodge rooms. Sheets are provided but guests need to bring a towel and personal toiletries. This tour price is for rooms in the Forest Lodge Terrace (Type 5), newest rooms at Bako National Park. The rooms have an ensuite shower and toilet and are equipped with fans. If the Forest Lodge Terrace rooms are not available, the room type will depend on availability at the time of booking. 

Please note that if the Terrace rooms are not available, the tour price will be different and will depend on the type of rooms available.

Buffet style. Vegetarians and special diets catered for.

Guides

You will be accompanied by a nature guide in small groups for hikes and nature observation. 

We can also accommodate private guide or specialist guide eg. Birding guide requests.

Day 1

Pickup from hotel in Kuching at 8:30 AM and drive for about 35 minutes to Bako Village. From the village, take a 25 minutes boat ride (depending on the tide) to the park situated on a peninsula. Upon arrival, check-in and settle in before enjoying lunch. After lunch, go on one of the several trails in search of wildlife or nature observation. The park’s coastline is dotted with small bays, coves and beaches. After dinner, go for a night walk.

Day 2

Following breakfast, depart for a final hike on one of the trails – spotting rare migratory birds and searching for the rare and elusive proboscis monkey, a primate only found in Borneo. After lunch, return to Kuching in mid-afternoon. Please note that schedule may depend on tide.

Return land and boat transfers from Kuching, accommodation, park entrance fees, meals, activities and nature guide.

What to Bring?

Comfortable hiking backpack including raincover, head lamp, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, hat, your favorite trekking snacks, raincoat, sunglasses, binocular, leech socks, dry-bag, swimwear, good walking/trekking shoes, flip flop, personal toiletries including towel, personal medication and first aid kit, electrolytes (hydration salts), light clothing for trekking.

Departure

Daily based on a minimum booking of 2pax per departure. Single supplement applies for solo travellers.

Recommended for

Travellers looking to experience the forest, beach and wildlife into a single trip. Weather conditions and water level of local rivers may force us to modify the tour in the interests of safety. Itinerary above is for guideline only.
