The Nocturnal Borneo program is set at INFAPRO, a tree nursery project base responsible for replanting areas of forest that has been logged in the past. Strategically located near the gate of Danum Valley Field Centre, this lesser-known cousin of DVFC offers wildlife and nature wonders to the adventurous. If rare nocturnal mammals of Borneo are what you wish to see but have limited time, this is the program for you.
Specially designed for keen and passionate travelers that are a little more serious than the average traveler, elevate your chances of seeing elusive cats that inhabit here and other night creatures. Search for nocturnal mammals such as the Western tarsier, civets, slow loris, porcupines, and many other species during the night safaris on the dirt roads around INFAPRO. Leopard cat, marble cat, flat-headed cat and Bornean Clouded leopard have been sighted in the area. If in luck, hopefully one of the elusive cats makes an appearance during your extended nightly search. When not on night safari, embark on a day safari into the Danum Valley Field Center nearby for walks and trail exploration of flora and fauna, observe an orangutan, or spend time swimming by the riverbank with a backdrop of giant old-growth trees.
Rooms with ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, hot water, and 24-hour electricity.
Simple yet tasty meals. Vegetarians and special diets catered for.
When you book an INFAPRO trip with us, you will be accompanied by a knowledgeable Sticky Rice Travel nature guide on all your treks and night walks. Your guide will also be able to assist with organizing additional 4×4 activities such as night safaris (outside of your main itinerary; at your own expense) during your time there.
Our guide to guest ratio is 1:8 so you will be with other travelers who are booked on the same departure.
We can also accommodate private guide or specialist guide eg. birding guide requests.
